The 1st Train the Trainers (TtT) event took place in Prague from January 18th to January 19th. Fifteen construction professionals from seven countries participated in this initial training course. During these two intensive and productive days, participants were introduced to the circular economy and its application within the construction sector. Participants were also presented the work and findings of the BUS-GoCircular project so far. During several presentations and interactive sessions participants familiarized themselves with the skills mapping for skills relating to multifunctional green roofs, facades and interior elements and the circular economy, the circular qualification framework, units of learning outcomes (ULO’s), training material and innovative teaching methods.
Active sessions took place throughout the two days, initially in random groups of three to four participants, eventually leading to the formation of four groups for the final workshop. The participants were divided into working groups based on their own background and who their target trainees would be. These groups were educators, architects, engineers, and consultants. The task over the two days was to create a proposal and brief outline or program detailing how, when and to whom their training would be carried out based on their target audience.
The output was a description of the course, which included the educational form of the course, the level of the course, whether the course will be integrated into other training. the number of proposed hours in person and self-directed, the target audience and the modules that the course will likely cover. The proposals for these training programs were presented to the group at large followed by a round of questions and answers. The standard of these proposals was to a very high level and all participants received a certificate of completion based on their proposals. There is nothing left other than to refine these programs and to implement them in the near future.
The advantage of the course with personal participation was the opportunity to experience something together. The lunches, coffee breaks, excursion to the National technical library and the evening spent together in the city centre contributed greatly to the creation of bonds between the participants, regardless of their nationality or profession. It is now easier to believe that we can shape the future and we are encouraged by the optimism and enthusiasm shared by both trainers and trainees throughout both days.
