During the Energy Day promoted by the Architects Council of Europe (ACE), Ms. Helena O’Rourke-Potocki, project partner, talked about “How to procure circular buildings?” in the framework of the BUSGoCircular project. Ms. O’Rourke-Potocki presented the strategies developed by ICLEI to procure circular buildings, such as including clauses in public procurement to upskilling of professionals and working force involved in the project, training public procurers in the Circular design and/or recruiting staff with circularity skills, procuring buildings that are circular by design, procure selected demolition (focus on recycling materials). Ms. O’Rourke-Potocki also pointed out that public procurers as urban planners, should look into creating circular neighborhoods and not only individual buildings.
